I know it’s a single image, but recently I was down at Old Poway Park photographing a wonderful birthday party (yup, I will photograph any event) and I happened to see this shot perfectly lined up. I stood back, gauged the scene, adjusted my angle, put on the 14mm and took the photo. I felt like sharing.

I totally love this family. A few years ago I had the honor of filming their wedding. When Mariah became pregnant I was blessed to photograph her maternity session and this time I get to photograph the entire family at one of the best spots in San Diego: Old Poway Park. Windandsea Beach and Old Poway Park Engagement | Jenny & Adam – WHAT A COUPLE!!!! Over the years I’ve filmed and photographed some incredible moments with this family from weddings to maternity to plain ole’ family fun parties! This time I was honored to do a two day shoot with Jenny & Adam.
First up we started at the incredible Windansea Beach in exclusive La Jolla, California (as many of you know one of my favorite places). While we moved about shooting various scenes the one I was looking forward to was our re-enactment of the beach scene in the movie ‘From Here To Eternity’. I waited for the sun to get at just the right spot then IN THE WATER THEY WENT! Can you say COLD? Just slightly for me as I was standing in the water, but – alas – my couple were laying on the sand when the first wave cascaded over them. Like true love they kept the romantic scenes going while I captured each moment looking for that one shot that would define the scene.
A few days later we met at Old Poway Park for part two of our journey. Old Poway Park is another of my favorite places because you can get so many different scenes within a short distance. We traversed the entire park and got some wonderful photographs of two wonderful people. I hope you enjoy viewing some of these highlights of Jenny & Adam as much as I enjoyed photographing them. Yung & Leo are DA BOMB! I LOVE THEM!!! Over the years I’ve had the honor of photographing or filming this entire family’s milestone events. I was totally stoked when asked to photograph Yung & Leo’s engagement photos.
Because I like to shoot my photographs in the late afternoon (love that late afternoon San Diego light!) we did these on two different days. Day One was at Balboa Park and started out with an entire family session . We then moved into focusing on Yung & Leo. The lighting was balanced and perfect although a little later it kinda started to drizzle (the shot on the Prado Bridge it was just about raining!).
On Day Two we met down near the Convention Center and wandered about taking a variety of images hitting some of my favorite scenes. As the sun crept closer towards the horizon we headed over to Coronado looking at the San Diego skyline where the city was blasted by our classic San Diego sunlight.
