Marie & Philip had a destination wedding in Maui, but their reception was here in San Diego and held at the iconic Admiral Kidd Catering & Conference Center on Naval Base Point Loma. I took a lot (and I do mean A LOT!) of photos and while most were impromptu photos of couples and groups looking at the camera and smiling there also was plenty of action which allowed me to capture the happy emotions that flowed throughout the event. In this blog post I excluded just about all of the ‘look at the camera and smile’ photos and posted my favorite journalistic images. My hope is these select images convey the details of the reception, but also the fun, the energy and love that was on display throughout this event. True to my style I use black and white to showcase these raw moments.
After a several year hiatus the San Diego Lake Murray Music Fest and Fireworks show returned on July 4th, 2017. Prior to its hiatus I had the pleasure of photographing this event and I am honored to have photographed this year. While I have well over 500 final images available for viewing I’ve selected a small segment for this blog post.

Annually a group of us get together to run video production on Spirit West Coast. The majority of the day I’m setting up cameras, pulling cable and testing the tools that will be used. However, when I wasn’t working the gig I tried to take a few behind the scenes photos as well as some pictures of the performers from an angle behind the stage that the ticket holder will never see.
Testing the lights.
Two of the main cameras at the very back of the arena.
Behind the stage these crew members will be busy swapping gear as one band leaves and the other sets up.
For those times when an onstage camera operator cannot get behind the drummer we’re going to position this Hero to get that shot.
